Charles Cole - founder of Five Ten - dies at 63 New York-born founder of Five Ten and inventor of Stealth rubber, Charles Cole, has died aged 63. A pioneer of the climbing shoe industry, Cole will be remembered for his stroke of genius and generous nature. Cole founded Five Ten with his parents, Mary and Charles Cole Jr, in California in 1985.

247 - Sgurr na Stri and the Cuillin Mountains of Skye Despite having almost perfect weather on our May Scottish trip, our first foray onto Skye produced one of the wettest days of the month. After a day of rain we bailed out, with the option of diverting back there on the way back home - there were two good mountain days in the Cuillins planned, and I wasn't about to give up too quickly.

Great News Drone Assisted Rescue on Broad Peak. It was great to see that the Scottish climber Rick Allan was spotted by a drone after he had a problem descending from Broad Peak in the Himalayas. Broad Peak is the 12th highest mountain in the world at 8,047 metres above sea level. The literal translation of "Broad Peak" to Falchan Kangri is not used among the Balti people.
