Red Sea bans single use plastics Egypt's Red Sea Governorate has introduced a ban on single-use plastics. The ban covers items including disposable plastic bags, cutlery and cups, and aims to protect the area's unique sea life, governor Ahmed Abdallah said. "We want to limit this phenomenon to preserve our maritime environment,".

Airliner-reef race hots up in Turkey A 65m-long Airbus A330 airliner has been scuttled for scuba divers at a depth of 30m in the Aegean Sea off north-western Turkey.
