NHL History: Vancouver Canucks acquire Russ Courtnall 25 years ago today 25 years ago today the Vancouver Canucks acquired Russ Courtnall from the Dallas Stars. Courtnall, 29, was acquired in exchange for Greg Adams, Dan Kesa, and the Canucks 5th round pick in the 1995 entry draft. His time in Vancouver was relatively short, playing only parts of three seasons, but he saw much success.
Ben Kuzma: Dare to dream about a Canucks-Oilers playoff matchup It would keep the Winnipeg Jets, who had won four straight games and were on a 6-3-1 roll before the March 12 season pause, in contention as the second wild-card club - instead of missing the post-season based on points percentage by a minuscule 0.001.

Ben Kuzma: Canucks keep hearing optimism in no-news conference calls "It was very much a status-quo kind of call and there's still optimism and tracking and a belief that we can still move forward at some point - and late summer would be optimistic in some models." When the NHL season was placed on pause March 12, the initial 14-day self isolation period was put in place the following day and expired March 27.
NHL considering completing 2019-20 season in neutral locations At this point, it's incredibly difficult to imagine a whole bunch of fans filing into a stadium to watch a hockey game any time soon. Despite that, the NHL still wants to finish off the 2019-20 season and the playoffs.
Monday Mailbag: Contracts, Conditions, and Why I Don't Cheer For The Canucks Obviously, it's all going to depend on whether or not the season resumes, but if the season is cancelled outright, I think they would get the pick back and be forced to surrender next year's pick. The conditions state that if the Canucks failed to make the playoffs in 2020, they would give up next year's pick.

Canucks: 10 things to be proud of and grateful for this year Here are 10 things to be proud of and/or grateful for. It truly is crazy what a couple of new faces on the power play can do. Defenceman Quinn Hughes and forward, J.T. Miller joined the Canucks\u2019 PP1 this season and together they turned a mediocre special teams unit from a year ago, into a legitimate top-five threat in the NHL.
Willes' Musings: We'll probably never know if this Canucks team was good enough to make the playoffs They lost their nerve when Jacob Markstrom went down against Boston on Feb. 22 and Markstrom wasn't coming back any time soon. Yes, they were coming off a shootout win over the Islanders when the NHL went dark but think of some of those losses in late February and early March: at Ottawa, at Arizona, home and away to Columbus.

Canucks: Looking at the top candidates for a compliance buyout Vancouver used those on forward David Booth and blueliner Keith Ballard. If the league were to give teams one or two compliance buyouts?
